AC Milan have confirmed the appointment of Ruben Amorim as their new head coach, handing the former Manchester United manager a three-year contract as the Italian giants seek a fresh start ahead of the new season.

The Portuguese tactician returns to management just months after he departed from Manchester United, where he was dismissed in January following a brief spell in charge that lasted 63 matches.
Amorim takes over from Massimiliano Allegri, whose tenure came to an end after Milan failed to secure qualification for next season’s UEFA Champions League.
The appointment presents a significant opportunity for the 41-year-old to rebuild his reputation after a challenging period in England. Despite arriving at Old Trafford with high expectations, Amorim struggled to establish consistency and ultimately lost the confidence of the club’s hierarchy.
Reports following his departure suggested concerns over his management style and reluctance to move away from his preferred 3-4-3 tactical system, factors that reportedly contributed to his exit.
Speaking after his appointment, Amorim described the move as the fulfillment of a long-standing ambition.
“Coaching AC Milan has always been one of my career goals. I understand the history, prestige, and expectations that come with this club, and I am excited to begin this new chapter,” he said.
AC Milan will be hoping Amorim can restore the club’s competitiveness both domestically and in Europe as they look to bounce back from a disappointing campaign.
For Amorim, the move represents a fresh opportunity to prove himself at the highest level and write a new chapter in one of European football’s most demanding environments.
