The Minister of Health, Kwabena Mintah Akandoh, has announced that the government will deploy 8,000 newly recruited health workers across the country by July, as processes to finalise their placement near completion.

Speaking on the status of the recruitment exercise, the Minister expressed confidence that all outstanding administrative procedures would be concluded within the month, paving the way for the recruits to begin work.

“I don’t want to give a specific date, but at the latest, I think by July we should be done with it,” he said. “We are looking at them starting work in July.”

As part of efforts to ensure transparency and streamline the process, the Ministry of Health is set to publish the names of all successful applicants, along with details of where they are expected to attend interviews.

According to Mr. Akandoh, the move is aimed at addressing concerns raised by applicants regarding postings and interview arrangements, while also providing clarity on the next steps in the recruitment process.

“We are going to publish all the names and where they’ll be going for their interviews,” he noted, adding that candidates who successfully complete the required procedures would be fully absorbed into the health system.

The Minister further indicated that the deployment strategy will prioritise rural and underserved communities, where shortages of health personnel continue to affect service delivery.

The recruitment and deployment of the additional health workers form part of the government’s broader efforts to strengthen Ghana’s healthcare system and improve access to quality care nationwide.
