Veteran Ghanaian actor and Founder of the Ghana Platinum Excellence Award, Nii Saka Brown, has officially launched a new national awards scheme aimed at recognizing companies and institutions that have demonstrated resilience, longevity, and outstanding contributions to Ghana’s socio-economic development.

The media launch, held at De’lish Restaurant inside the University of Ghana, brought together government representatives, corporate leaders, media practitioners, and invited guests to unveil the initiative, which seeks to honour organisations that have remained relevant and impactful for over two decades.

The event was hosted by renowned media personality Sokoo Hemaa, born Melody Kukua Ibrahim, who served as the Master of Ceremonies.

Delivering his keynote address, Nii Saka Brown said the Ghana Platinum Excellence Award was established to celebrate institutions whose vision, leadership, consistency, and resilience have helped shape Ghana’s economic journey across generations.

According to him, while innovation and start-ups often receive widespread recognition, long-standing organisations that have contributed significantly to national development are rarely celebrated.

“Companies that survive decades do more than conduct business—they create jobs, build communities, support families, inspire entrepreneurs, and contribute immensely to national development. The Ghana Platinum Excellence Award was therefore conceived to honour these remarkable institutions and preserve their stories for future generations,” he stated.

He explained that the awards programme will recognize companies that have demonstrated longevity and sustained impact, celebrate business excellence and institutional resilience, promote good corporate governance and corporate continuity, inspire future entrepreneurs, and preserve Ghana’s corporate and industrial heritage.

Nii Saka Brown stressed that the initiative goes beyond identifying the oldest companies, emphasizing that it seeks to honour institutions whose enduring legacies continue to influence Ghana’s growth and development.

He expressed optimism that the award scheme would evolve into one of the country’s most respected national recognition platforms, encouraging businesses to build lasting institutions rather than focusing solely on short-term success.

The founder also appealed to government agencies, corporate organisations, sponsors, and development partners to support the initiative, while urging the media to help project the stories of these remarkable institutions across the country.

“Today we officially begin a movement to celebrate legacy, inspire longevity, and honour the institutions that continue to build Ghana,” he declared.

Also addressing the gathering, the Chief Executive Officer of De’lish Restaurant, Yaw Sakyi, commended the organisers for introducing what he described as a timely and visionary initiative.

He noted that companies that have remained operational for more than 20 years deserve national recognition for their resilience, innovation, and contribution to Ghana’s economy.

According to him, the Ghana Platinum Excellence Award will not only celebrate excellence but also promote institutional continuity, corporate leadership, and preserve Ghana’s corporate and economic heritage for future generations.

The Ghana Platinum Excellence Award is expected to become an annual national event dedicated to recognising institutions that have stood the test of time while inspiring businesses to build sustainable legacies that contribute meaningfully to Ghana’s development.
