The suspect, identified as Michael Mensah, was apprehended on Sunday, June 15, 2026, at about 7:15 p.m. at the Pedu Lorry Station in Cape Coast by the Inspector-General of Police’s Cyber Vetting and Enforcement Team following sustained intelligence-led operations.

According to preliminary police investigations, Mensah, who claims to be a teacher and also works as a driver, allegedly picked up the deceased from Ayensu Plaza within the UCC hostel enclave on June 11, 2026, at approximately 6:48 p.m.

Investigators believe the suspect subsequently transported the 20-year-old Level 200 Human Resource Management student to Hutchland Beach, where she was reportedly last seen before her body was later found washed ashore.

The discovery of the student’s body triggered a major police investigation, leading to the deployment of a special team of experienced investigators and intelligence officers to assist with efforts to establish the circumstances surrounding her death.

In a statement, the Ghana Police Service confirmed the arrest and indicated that investigations remain ongoing. Authorities have assured the public that further updates will be provided as new developments emerge.

The arrest marks a significant breakthrough in the case, which has attracted widespread public attention following reports that the student had gone missing before her body was discovered at a Cape Coast beach.
