An Accra Circuit Court has remanded a Chinese businessman into police custody over the alleged theft of 440 bundles of T-shirts valued at GH¢3 million.

The accused, identified as Evan Yung, is alleged to have stolen the items from a warehouse at Fadama in the Greater Accra Region on November 11, 2025.

Yung, 36, pleaded not guilty to a charge of stealing.

Presenting the facts of the case, Chief Inspector Wisdom Alorwu told the court that both the accused and the complainant, whose name was withheld, are Chinese nationals residing in Osu, Accra.

According to the prosecution, the complainant travelled to China in May 2025 to attend to his ailing mother and entrusted the management of his warehouse at Fadama to Yung.

The warehouse reportedly contained 440 bundles of T-shirts worth GH¢3 million.

The prosecution said the complainant returned to Ghana in November 2025 and was informed by the accused that he had sold the goods to customers who had failed to pay for them.

The complainant reportedly waited several weeks for the proceeds from the sales, but the accused was unable to account for the goods or recover the money.

A complaint was subsequently lodged with the police, leading to Yung’s arrest.

The prosecution told the court that in his caution statement to investigators, the accused admitted to the offence.

The court remanded Yung into police custody pending further proceedings.
